Tour schedule:
Day 1:
Hotel pick-up (around 7:30am) by our English-speaking tour guide & driver, then drive to the Beijing Railway station to board a train (soft seat, 2-4 hours) to Shanhaiguan or Qinhuangdao.
Upon arrival, be met by our local guide & driver for lunch, then visit the Old Dragon’s Head– the starting point of the 4,000 mile-long Great Wall, visit Shanghaiguan Pass afterwards.

Later on, travel to the Xiaoheikou Great Wall (1.5 hours drive).
Upon arrival, leave your luggage at Mr. Liu’s home (a Great Wall lover and protector, living in this village since 2001), then take a short tour through this mini village (30 households in the village). You can enjoy the small, quiet and quaint atmosphere and learn about the long history dating back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
Hike on the east section of Xiaoheikou Great Wall at 15:00, arrive at a peak tower and witness a beautiful sunset there, walk back to the village afterwards.
Dinner will be served at 7:00pm in Mr. Liu’s home. Tonight, you will sleep on a special bed called a Fire-Kang (a kind of bed, made of bricks with a hollowed fire flue inside, very popular in northern China).

Day 2:
Get up at 4-5am, hike to the highest point of the Great Wall led by Mr. Liu (40 minutes) and experience a breathtaking sunrise, after this walk back to Mr. Liu’s residence for breakfast.
At 8:30am, hike towards the western section of Xiaoheikou for 4-5 hours, we will break for a picnic lunch on the wall, then hike back to the village in the afternoon. If time permits, another short tour to the Liaodong Great Wall can be arranged. Stay overnight at Mr. Liu’s home again.

Day 3:
After breakfast, leave Xiaoheikou at 7:30am, drive 1.5 hours to get to the Shanhaiguan train station to board a train (soft seat, 2-4 hours) back to Beijing. Upon arrival in Beijing, be met by our driver again, then transfer back to your hotel/apartment.

Kindly Notice:
A. Mr.Liu’s Home: A nice, clean, and very typical dewelling in northern China, clean restroom and hot water are available, but nowhere to take a shower in winter.
B. Our Guide will accompany you on the wall the entire time.
C. Hiking on the wall will be extensive, so please be sure to drink plenty of water and wear appropriate shoes. Hiking shoes are highly recommended.
